For a natural and aesthetic approach to
tooth restoration, at AIAD clinic we are
proud to offer a variety of tooth-colored
fillings. Also called composite resin
bonding, these fillings are made of
microscopic glass particles in a resin
matrix and are able to bond to tooth
structure adhesively. Thus less of the
healthy part of a tooth has to be removed to
hold the filling in place. These
tooth-colored fillings can be hardly
distinguished from the natural tooth.
In addition to advanced decay, old or
defective silver filings often cause the
teeth to become discolored and unsightly. If
you have this problem, several alternatives
are available. To determine which is best, I
believe all old filling material with
marginal leakage should be removed.
Tooth-colored fillings can be placed in
small cavities and low stress areas. These
types of fillings are more expensive than
silver fillings because their usage are
technique sensitive and take longer to
place. Most patients find these natural
looking fillings well worth the additional
cost.
